Located in the Northeast Kingdom, a Turning Stone Farm wedding highlights the best of rural life that Vermont has to offer. With a historic barn, the property overlooks some of the mountains in Northern Vermont. Down the road you’ll find one of my favorite New England Bed and Breakfasts—Highland Lodge.
The two wanted a wedding experience that complemented their lifestyle and community. By bringing their friends together for a weekend at Highland Lodge, the couple and their friends and community were able to enjoy all the mountains of Vermont have to offer—kayaking, hiking, bonfires, quiet starlit nights, and more.
Getting Ready at Highland Lodge
While there is a getting ready space for one at Turning Stone Farm. You can stay in the suite after the wedding, the couple opted to mostly get ready at Highland Lodge. With little cottages dotting the hillside that the b&b rests on, the couple were able to get ready with friends and family in different locations.
In the morning, there’s a continental breakfast available for guests that the wedding party could take advantage of. Turning Stone Farm is just a short 10 minute drive away, so Highland Lodge a perfect location to get ready. On the way you can stop at Willy’s for a few snacks and beverages.
An Afternoon Turning Stone Farm Wedding
The two opted for a first look, and met each other in one of the trails at Turning Stone Farm. Afterwards, the two had most of their wedding party and family pictures taken in the gardens at Turning Stone Farm. The two opted for a ceremony facing the mountains, with the precessional leading out of the barn. With florals dabbling the archway it was a gorgeous green wedding on a warm Saturday in August. The lushness of the Vermont Northeast Kingdom complemented their wedding perfectly.
After the wedding ceremony, the two had cocktail hour below the barn, followed by their wedding reception in the barn. With a firm end time, the two had an after party back at Highland Lodge. Honestly it’s a perfect time to transition as most of the parents will disappear. Everyone else can hobble to bed whenever they’re ready.
