As a Newport Rhode Island wedding photographer, I have gotten to know many of the Newport wedding venues, and best locations for your Newport wedding portraits. There are definitely a few truly popular places, the Newport Cliff Walk, and Second Beach. There are also a few other hidden gems dabbled throughout Newport Rhode Island.

A Newport Rhode Island Wedding Photographer Favorite: Newport Cliff Walk
In summer this spot can be super tricky and filled with tourists. That said it is a gorgeous location for your wedding portraits. Definitely a best spot for just the couple, walk the Newport Cliff Walk and have your ride drop you off at one end and meet you at another. Walk through the Cliff Walk and explore use the mansions and the view as a backdrop.
Best in the Winter Months: Second Beach
Second Beach is one of the most iconic and popular beaches in Newport Rhode Island. This spot in summer can be super tricky but in the fall, spring, and winter, it’s a beautiful location for your wedding portraits. A great spot for the whole group, there’s amble parking for large wedding parties and families to take wedding portraits here.

A Fun Spot in the Late Fall and Early Spring: Thames Street Newport
Walk down Thames Street as a couple for your Newport Rhode Island wedding portraits. Have your ride to the wedding venue drop you off at one end of Thames and meet you at the other. Walk Thames with your Newport Rhode Island wedding photographer to get unique and personal wedding portraits. Dip in and out of your favorite businesses, or quaint streets to create imagery that’s personal to you.
A Hidden Gem for Newport Rhode Island Wedding Portraits: Behind IYRS
Tucked behind IYRS is a quaint Newport harbor dock and brick buildings. This is one of my favorite locations for wedding couple portraits. Located on Thames Street, the International Yacht Restoration School is a historic school in Newport RI. The school teaches wooden boat building and other related topics. The boats typically docked here are incredible, and beautiful wooden boats.

Walking Around the Mansions on Bellevue Avenue
The mansions are pricey to photograph in for your wedding portraits. All have venue fees, and they can range from $300 to $1200. Walk down Thames Street with your wedding photographer for epic Newport Mansion portraits along Bellevue Avenue. This area typically isn’t saturated with tourists in late fall to early spring. In the summer months it might be trickier to photograph here.
Some Indoor Locations: The Newport Mansions
Most of the Newport mansions offer indoor rental options for your Newport wedding portraits. If you’re getting married somewhere more modern like Newport Beach House or Belle Mer, this option is a nice balance to your images in clean, crisp environments. Email or call any of the Newport mansions to learn more.

An Outdoor Oasis for a Newport Rhode Island Wedding Photographer: Brenton Point State Park
Another great location for the large wedding party or family, Brenton Point State Park has hiking trails, and cliff views from this southern Newport location. On the very most southern tip of Aquidneck Island, Brenton Point State Park offers diverse environments for your wedding portraits. In summer it can be a bit hectic. Any seasoned Newport Rhode Island wedding photographer can find ways to hide from tourists at this location.
Use the Views from Your Newport Rhode Island Hotel or AirBnb
If you’re staying at Gurney’s, or other area Newport Rhode Island hotels, use the property. Some of the Newport Rhode Island wedding venues can be a little tricky for unique or different wedding portraits. Use what you have! Sneak out before heading over to the wedding venue and walk the property with your Newport Rhode Island wedding photographer.
