Caitlin + Kevin – Full Gallery
Caitlin and Kevin wanted a Cushman House wedding for a variety of reasons. The two have shared a love of family vacations on Block Island and wanted to emulate that experience for their guests. A barefoot Block Island wedding was always in the cards, and something that felt more casual and matched the pace of a Block Island family vacation made sense.
A Cushman House wedding is a different kind of Block Island wedding. It’s not the high end, lots of florals, upscale destination wedding that everyone expects. Rather, it’s more casual, familiar, nostalgic. The house is a vacation house on the Neck, facing Crescent Beach. There’s a path that leads to the beach — which is usually used for a beach ceremony. When you come back for cocktail hour, most clients opt to use the large wrap around porch, with the tent for a Block Island wedding reception.
A Destination Wedding on Block Island at the Cushman House
Destination weddings on Block Island create memorable experiences for your guests. Many of my family photography clients that have started coming year after year were introduced to Block Island through weddings. There’s something different about being somewhere so special to a couple, and their love story.
Having a Weekend-Long Block Island Cushman House Wedding
In having a weekend long wedding on Block Island, your guests can enjoy more of your time, and share in your favorite experiences of the island. When you send out invites, after you get an RSVP, send out a little package of information about the island. Share your favorite restaurants, beaches, experiences on Block Island. Guests will explore and check out your recommendations.
Unique Experiences For Block Island Weddings
For the day of your Block Island wedding consider incorporating unique experiences. While a raw bar, or a pig roast are fan favorites, consider how you can really wow your guests. Individual, hand written letters in their hotel rooms with their welcome bags, private yoga classes or tours for your guests over the weekend, and more can provide your guests with an extra wow factor they might not expect.
